Clare has been a wonderful asset since coming to our school. She goes above and beyond and is wholeheartedly involved with the students. As a teacher, I rely on her expertise and seemingly unlimited strategies that she tailors to each individual student. Her scope of expertise reaches beyond her OT skills and she works with both the student and the teacher to help everyone be successful. She collaborates and takes feedback into consideration to have a team approach and will adjust strategies and programs as needed. Most importantly, she cares!! The best interest of each child is always front and centre of her approach. Her knowledge and suggestions have been extremely helpful and it’s always a pleasure to see her smiling face pop into our classroom.
Services for Organizations
I work with organizations, schools, and community programs that support families raising children with special needs, helping staff understand challenging behaviours, develop practical, effective strategies, and create safer, more enriched environments for everyone.
In busy, dynamic settings, it can be incredibly challenging to meet the needs of children with unique ways of learning, processing, and communicating. Too often, teachers, educational assistants, administrators, and support staff aren’t given the education or tools to fully understand a child’s needs. This can lead to escalated behaviours, frustration, burnout, and missed opportunities for connection.
My role is to bridge that gap. I help staff unpack the why behind behaviours, identify supports that work for both the student and the team, and build the confidence to respond with compassion, creativity, and calm. I also work directly with neurotypical peers, helping them understand and connect with their classmates who learn or communicate differently. When uncertainty is replaced with understanding, fear fades, and connection grows. And when connection grows, so does community. Suddenly, the challenges don’t fall on one person’s shoulders, it becomes a shared effort, with peers included as an important part of the team.
This is where transformation happens: children feel seen, understood, and safe; staff feel grounded and supported; and the entire community benefits. I love nothing more than hearing stories of success from educators who have tried a new approach, seen a positive shift, and found renewed joy in watching all their students flourish.
From one-on-one staff coaching to team trainings to classroom groups on neurodiversity, my focus is always the same, creating safe, supportive spaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and equipped to connect. Knowledge is power, and even small changes in perspective can lead to lasting change for kids, families, and the communities around them.
